ABOUT THE PLAY AND PLAYWRIGHT

The Ramayana is India’s most well known story. It has various retellings by Indian authors, movie and television versions, stage versions and dance versions.  Its dance versions are performed in countries like Thailand and Bali. In this production we present the version by the Tamil poet Kamban. Kamban wrote the retelling of this epic in Tamil in 11000 verses. We present this epic in dance theatre style.
