How Theatre is Teamwork in Action – LinkedIn

Want to see teamwork in action? Watch a theatre show. Yes you heard it right. A theatre show happening live in front of you is the best place to see teamwork in action.

What you as a viewer see on stage is a realtime combined effort of many departments put together, happening right as you watch the show – everything from advertising and marketing to push sales, to customer service at the ticketing and reception, to quality from the performers, to JIT by the backstage and light and sound, to leadership by the director to overall service experience to name a few.

The chances of a theatre team going wrong are plenty and given that they need to provide the same customer experience multiple times over multiple shows means every show has as much chance of going wrong as it can go right. The complexity and number of people involved increases as the scale of the performance increases (from a local theatre show to London musicals). So what is it that helps a flawless performance? Teamwork, a sense of ownership and the ability to take everyone along.

A work of theatre may be conceived and written by one, but is owned by everyone involved. Each person in a theatre show knows his value-add to the final product but also knows that he needs to pick others up when they flounder, if his own value-add has to make the desired impact.

Want to know how that is done? Would you like a first hand experience of what happens behind the scenes in a theatre show? Join us on a tour behind the scenes on 24th August at 11.00 a.m.
